The Italian Renaissance undergarment corset is made of two layers of white dense flax with 13 corset bones imitating whalebone used in those times. Dresses of the period featured short-cut bodice and the silhouette later named "Empire style".
However, undergarment stays comes down almost to the waist and is laced on the back with the staylace.
The foundation garment is meant for peak lacing of the upper part of the stature under the dress. Corsets of the period still had no sideways bones, casings or "underbust" cups. It stays actually flat. Low neckline allowed bust to be halfway released to make it easier to breath, on the one hand. On the other hand, that allowed to partly nude tempting curves, showing through the zephyrian semitransparent silk or linen muslin of the chemise. Since corset was worn next to the skin from considerations of modesty we attached not quite historically correct white linen underskirt taking advantages of the afteryears technologies.

If I could give them 100 stars for their customer service, I would. I was absolutely blown away by their dedication to fixing a problem (even though the problem was on my end) and I just cannot express how kind and patient and understanding they were. And the quality!? AMAZING! The stitching is exquisite and clean. The boning is stiff and yet flexible enough where it wouldn’t be uncomfortable. Absolutely stunning! But truly I am still head over heels about the costumer cervice. 100/100 !!! I have never had a shop put their kind of effort into fixing a problem.

The picture shows lacing with eyelets but I just received my corset and it has pen marks on it where the holes are supposed to be…also no lacing included. I didn’t know this wouldn’t be laced and I’d have to punch holes in it myself. This is pretty inconvenient :(

Beautiful! I recommend this corset. The only issue is that the arm holes are small. I’m a petite person, and the arms holes were a little tight.

Incredibly well made piece, only issue is that the arm holes are smaller than im my other Armstreet tops so i did not know to size up. Still wearable and cute just not as comfy to move in
Superb fabric! My only complaint is that the armholes are very tight on me. I wish I gave the measurements for the armholes. I think I’m going to have to get it altered to fix that because it cuts into my skin and it doesn’t look good. It’s comfortable when I wear it over a shirt/dress. Shipping was very fast.

What does the bottom of the corset look like without the skirt? Is it straight or is there some kind of fastening to join the two? And if I want to buy it to wear as a top on its own, what is the most opaque white material?
Hello, the corset has straight hem. It can be made in linen or cotton. Both materials are not transparent.

Good evening, I would like to know if this corset could be modified a little bit so that it could fit a regency dress. The back of the corset is a bit high, and regency dresses are lower on the back. Besides, I would like to know if the total length of the corset could be done a bit longer especially on the front, so that it has a sort of pointed shape on the front. Thank you for the information.

Out of all the bridal looks I have been looking through the past few months, this is the only one that fits what I want for my wedding dress. My plan was to buy the corset only and create my own skirt to go with it. However I looked on your website and you told someone that the look only works as underwear and doesn't look right as a standalone. Is this true? Would you be able to make it out of a different material that looks less like underwear? Please let me know. Thank you!
Well, usually we recommend choosing different colour to make the corset look less like underwear.
White linen is very thin in fact, that`s why the corset has this strong underwear look. In general, it can be worn by itself. What we can do is to make the corset of white cotton, which is thicker, heavier and keeps its shape better. If that is an option for you, please just mention the material in the comments to your order, no extra for this.
Is the Renaissance Underwear Florentine Style Corset in size 0 going to get back in stock sometime soon? Normally i would be a size 2 but your sizes on the size chart seems really big, or have i just misinterpet something? If so i would love to get the size 0 and 2 measurements on the corset. Thanks :)

Our size chart is indeed different from US, EU and UK systems. You can email us your chest, waist and under bust circumferences and we'll check which size should fit you best.
Would the natural linen be okay for use as a main dress? I was hoping to get something that could be worn on its own, or as an undergarment. It's such a beautiful piece.
This set in natural color can be worn as a main dress, though we recommend choosing more saturated colors for this purpose. Please be sure to mention this in a comment to your order, and we'll make it of thicker linen to avoid resemblance to the underwear. No extra for this.

Yes, since the width of the corset at the waist must be less than your real waist circumference (otherwise the corset makes no sense, and you won't get such an effect as in the photos).
We need your actual body measurements - please do not substract any inches by yourself.
We use plastic bones for all our corsets.
Hello. Can you give me an advice, is it can be used not like underwear , but just like a dress?
If you want to wear it as a main dress, I'd recommend to choose some different color or to use white cotton. It's thicker, heavier and keeps the shape better.
