The “Archeress” Сhemise is definitely one of our most popular linen women's outfits. It has wide and elegant sleeves, it can be used as a chemise and as a dress and it looks really good. To make a long story short: it's popular.
This is a special edition of this pretty demanded dress with some changes to make the style different. The first and the most recognizable upgrade is patches stitched up to the dress with the visible decorative seam. Additionally, we've used unbleached linen which is more dense and close so we had to change the pattern a bit. This linen is a material I want to tell more about. Overall linen is an extremely sturdy, beautiful, natural and historically accurate fabric with amazing properties. But this one is the best of the best for historical costume - it has visible structure, it's dense but not too harsh and it looks just amazing with patches on it.
This dress design is based on XIII-XIV century European feminine costume pattern. Classic Gothic silhouette emphasizes breast and waist. Long and wide sleeves can be adjusted to any length with the help of drawstring casing. Additionally, the skirt is adjusted with one more gore to be wider. Making this dress we tried to balance between Halloween witch costume and more realistic interpretation of historical costume so we ended up with this kind of fairytale character outfit which is based on the authentic prototypes but can be easily turned into the absolutely mythical outfit with some stylish accents and accessories.

I purchased this dress for a Halloween event, held here at my local Renaissance festival, I was one of the “Haunt” Actors. This dress went above and beyond my expectations, It fit incredible…despite being one size smaller than I would have normally purchased. I received a lot of compliments, and everyone loved the costume I put together, using the dress as the base! I loved it so much, I went back and purchased the entire Moonlite night ensemble! Not my first purchase and won’t be my last!
My 2nd order from Armstreet, the first was a long time ago and was still on EBay. I am also totally thrilled with this dress. The burlap not only looks great, it is also comfortable to wear. The cut of the dress is a dream. I used it straight away for a fantasy photoshoot. Whether medieval market or shooting, an absolute eye-catcher!

Hi, I just received this piece and am so happy with it. What are the washing and drying instructions for it, and how much will it shrink in warm water?
Hi Ren, please check our care guide for washing instructions. The chemise may shrink a little bit in warm water. It is important not to wash it in the machine and not dry it in the dryer. Hand washing is preferable.
I'd love to know if you can turn the patches into pockets by leaving the tops open. A true witch of the time would carry many magical things in hidden pockets. Can you do this on an order?
Indeed, every true which would need at least a couple of pockets. :)

Is is possible to get this dress with a v neck instead of the rounded neck?
That might be possible but will require the change of the pattern and technology. Could you please let me know some of your measurements (Full height, Chest and Waist) and we`ll see what can be done.
Hiya, I'm torn between The Halloween Archeress & The Wanderer's robe. They are both so lovely and natural. I love the slightly unhinged patches and look of the archeress, but prefer the overall silhouette of the Wanderer. Also, the UK is quite cold, is it possible to have sleeves/hood in a more solid fabric without losing too much of the shape.
We`d recommend the Wanderer robe then, as it has a hood, it might be
not so warm, but better than nothing. ;)
Unfortunately the sleeves and hood cannot be made of the other fabric
due to technical reasons.
I really like the archeress dress but am concerned about it being see through. This dress is perhaps a better option..if I ask for no patches. On a custom order...is this the only linen available?
Yes, this chemise is not see-through, you can order it without the patches - simply add a comment to your order.
