“Cassius” Gladius with Sheath
Roman Centurian Decorative Sword and Scabbard
We have always wanted to make items inspired by ancient civilizations, and couldn’t be more pleased that “Cassius” is our first result! The Roman era is undeniably inspiring, so it should come as no surprise that we chose to craft our own version of this iconic piece of roman design and engineering. Not only is this piece interesting aesthetically, but fortunately for us its also very well documented. The Gladius was a roman shortsword, traditionally made with a broad blade and a razor-sharp point made for stabbing at a very close distance.
It is important to note that this sword is intended solely as a display item and is not made for combat of any kind. It has been build as a display piece, completely hollow through the blade making it lighter and easier to mount on a wall or wear for photoshoots or cosplay. It cannot be sharpened to an edge or point.
In true Roman style, we feel that cluttering this piece with wasteful adornment would have taken away from the shape of the blade. The blade is made from 1.5mm stainless steel welded together to form a beautifully simple silhouette. Rather than focussing on our usual ArmStreet etching, we instead chose to focus on the simplicity and elegance of the form itself. This approach is also visible on the hilt, brass has been used sparingly between the blade and the hilt to reinforce the sword and allowing the beautifully polished two-toned Ashwood to shine. As a finishing touch, a small brass accent has been added to the bottom of the pommel.
We used the same design principles when it came to the sheath. High quality, lustrous leather has been used over the top of a strong wooden core. This core means that the whole scabbard feels very solid and that the sword slots into it with a satisfying noise and solid feeling. Over the top of the leather, we have used 1mm brass to reinforce it in spots and add decoration in others, creating a simple yet eyecatching design that compliments the sword within. The sheath also includes four rings with strapping attached, making it easy to sling over your shoulder and carry with you. This belt can also be adjusted with the help of a brass buckle. Everything about this piece shines with fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, so we hope that you wear it with pride!
Once again we would like to remind you that this sword is entirely decorative, but still heavy and made from steel. Because of this, we ask that you treat it with the same respect you would give to a real sword, and don’t swing it around your friends, family, animals, and anything else you do not wish to damage. Once you receive this sword, the power is in your hands. Please use it responsibly.

Important note: the only way to use the item is to use it as an appearance piece. This gladius is not a weapon, it can't be sharpened and must be used only in places where it is safe: away from children and any other people and objects that may be accidentally harmed. Please use it responsibly and take into account that by buying this piece you confirm that you agree to take full responsibility for your safety and safety of other people that may be potentially harmed.
