Singlestick is a beautiful HEMA weapon category - it is totally historically valid as a training weapon for backsword and sabre, it is the cheapest HEMA-ranked weapon, and it’s a fun uniting tournament category.

Long story short, a lot of our members who do HEMA weren’t satisfied with the recent offer of basket hilts for singlestick - leather guards are too expensive and don’t last long enough. Plastic hilts have a serious problem, specifically important for those who do sabre: they hardly allow a thumb grip and, because of their specific shape combined with the hard plastic, restrict wrist movement.

So, the goal was simple: to make a nicely looking basket that wouldn’t restrict your wrist rotations. Done as promised, our brilliant engineering department (with a vast experience in sabre fencing) did the job perfectly. And our youngest branch, focused on plastic gear, finished the task using our two-component plastic reinforced with a fabric layer.
