This shirt is a perfect base layer for your late medieval or early Renaissance costume. Thin linen shirts were popular throughout Europe for a long period. Linen is known for its exceptional bactericidal properties, heat control, and exceptional durability, which is 3-4 times longer than that of cotton. Such shirts were mainly used as a layer between the skin and more expensive, nice clothing, protecting both the wearer from the potentially less pleasant touch of heavier fabric and also the outfit from sweat. Also, shirts like this were a typical home outfit, serving as both underwear and sleepwear, while being suitable for informal appearances.
The length is exactly right to wear it both over the pants or tucked in. The shirt is very comfortable and non-restrictive, soft, and has a practically round-shaped neckline with a small front slit.
