Popular in Central Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries, the Armet is one of the first helmets to completely enclose the head. This style of helmet differs from a close helm (which has a single pivot point) by hinging at the cheeks. To protect the close at the back this style of helmet also features a rondel at the base of the neck.

Our Armet is quite classically 15th-century, and would look right at home on a knight or other combatant. It provides decent visibility for a helmet of this kind with an eye-slit as well as carefully placed holes in the visor. The visor is held closed near the cheek with a robust hook, and a metal toggle at the bottom holds it shut at the neck. A push-button system on the brow is also used to lock the visor up or down. Overall, we’ve given you as many fail-safes as possible to ensure the helmet is securely closed and ready for combat.

This luxurious helmet comes etched with wonderful designs on it. These designs are based on no extant piece or historical example, but are taken from motifs found in the 15th century so they fit the helmet quite well.

We’ve used high-quality materials for every aspect of this helmet. The top dome of the helmet is made from 2mm stainless steel, with the cheek plates and visor constructed from 1.5mm stainless steel. We chose to make it from stainless because not only does it provide extra strength, but it’s rust-resistant and makes this helmet significantly easier to take care of than mild steel. Real leather has been used on the inside for strapping, as well as quality foam and textile for the padding.

This helmet has been sold by ArmStreet for a long time, but has recently been recently re-engineered by our blacksmiths to have an improved design to keep you safer during fights. We’ve changed the visor to be slightly more pointy, which causes it to deflect blows better. We have also laser cut our own hooks out of 6mm stainless steel for added security, and made the closure system more reliable.
