If you’ve ever wanted to dress the whole family in ArmStreet, now you finally can! After many years of designing, testing, and getting everything just perfect, we’re happy to launch “First Adventure”, a line of children’s clothing. We’ve applied the same meticulous design methodologies and premium textiles that you’ll find in our adult clothing, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re getting some of the highest quality kids clothing on the market. Everything in this collection is newly patterned to specific fit children, so your little one will feel cool, comfy and ready for adventure.
Hoods have always been one of our favorite pieces of medieval clothing. They were in fashion for over a thousand years, often sporting creative and interesting designs. They weren’t just a fashion piece, though - hoods were so popular because of how functional they were. When worn down, a hood would give you some vital insulation around the neck and keep you warm. When up, it would do all of that AND protect your head and face from the sun, rain and wind. In fact, hoods were such a useful piece of fashion that they still exist today - though they were combined with a tunic to create the modern “hoodie”! Our hood covers your shoulders and has quite a generous head hole, which makes it easy to put on and take off. The bottom of it is gently sloped across the chest, and the top of the hood comes to an adorable little point. Just like a medieval hood it doesn’t include any lacing around the neck to fasten it - it’s simply one piece that goes over your head, nothing to get tangled.
We’ve used the same woolen fabric for this hood that you’ll find our adult hoods. It’s a wonderful soft wool with a gentle weave that means it isn’t scratchy. Just in case, though, we decided to line it with linen to add another layer between your child’s face and the wool. Wool is a natural textile and is just fantastic for an outer layer, as it has a natural water repellant property to it that means light rain will just bead and roll off, not sink in and weigh it down like it would with cotton. We’ve used all of our tailoring magic and expert sewing techniques to make sure this hood is well put together with strong seams and fine finishes, and just to make this particular hood extra fancy, we decided to add some gorgeous hand-done herringbone stitching around the head hole and bottom.

Pay attention to one important thing: most kids, especially when it comes to smaller ones, are used to wearing way softer clothing, which is usually made of extremely soft and stretch fabric. So there is a chance your kid won't be happy dealing with medieval clothes limitations and natural fabric early on. As we experimented on our own kids, statistically all of them get used to this after a while – normally when linen gets softer and shapes a tad on the owner's body. But please be very conscious about it in the beginning and make sure your kid is really comfortable with the medieval costume. We tried our best to make this clothing as comfortable and loose and flowing as possible, but natural fabric and ancient patterns have their disadvantages, so the final decision is on you: we can't guarantee that any kid will be comfortable wearing our medieval clothes.
