Linen Celtic Tunic “Leprechaun”
Flax linen Irish tunic with Celtic trim
It is difficult not to fall in love with the Celts. A history rich with folklore, it has a certain romantic quality about its relationship with mysticism and fairies. Not the kind fairies of modern storybooks, mind you – the tricky sort whom you should never trust, and never accept any favor from.
This tunic and the collection that contains it are inspired by medieval Ireland and are a creative take on Celtic clothing combining folktales, history and our own imaginations. The leprechaun inspired this particular tunic.
The pattern for this tunic is similar but not the same as our Viking tunics. It comes down at the neckline in a keyhole fashion and has tapered sleeves that provide you lots of room to move and swing your sword. The tunic comes down to just below the hip, with a large split in the middle that goes up to your belly button. This split means that the wearer would still be able to ride a horse without their clothing getting in the way.
This tunic is made from quality 100% flax linen. Strong yet supple, this excellent fiber wicks sweat and keeps you cool, while also providing great insulation under other layers on a cold day. It warms up next to your skin and becomes much softer with wear, making it a great base layer.
The whole tunic is decorated at every opening with Celtic knotwork trim. This trim can be found protecting each and every hem, including the bottom, the wrists, and the neckline. It frames the garment in a handsome way and brings a little bit of additional visual interest to the piece.
