Woolen Surcoat “Hollow Hills”
Early Middle Ages long woolen surcoat tabard
A surcoat is a very typical medieval garment, usually a second (or third) layer in your outfit. A surcoat was traditionally worn over the inner layer of clothing (and also over armor) and was an analog of the modern sweater — a perfect addition to your travelling outfit and a versatile part of it.
This one is not just a regular surcoat. It is made of superb quality Italian wool, soft and flowy, and has removable sleeves. You can wear those just as regular sleeves or keep them hanging from your shoulders like wings when you want your arms free and unrestricted. Pretty much like our Middle Ages tunic “Hollow Hills,” it features front and back riding slits that also make running and walking more comfortable. The garment is decorated with contrast golden stitching along the central and arm slits. It has a deep neckline to make it more comfortable as an outer layer worn over something else.
Last but not least, the coat has a linen-poplin blend lining, making it a complete high-quality outfit on its own.
A surcoat is a very stylish and medieval-looking part of any costume, so you definitely need to consider it as a part of your garb.
