This helmet is a special one for us, as we have been wanting to make it for some time. Here is the background story and the explanation.
People who do armored combat in any form, from point-based WMA sword fighting to SCA to HEMA Harnischfechten to buhurts, are always calling their armor “real”, when everything that goes for appearance purposes only is called costuming. The interesting thing is that helmets, especially early ones, and those that were made for lower ranks of armored soldiers, usually had quite simple and thin lining, making a helmet more like a survival chance gear against one unlucky hit rather than a tank able to withstand repeated abuse in tournaments, and many, many hard strikes. So, when we look at the historical sources, we always see helmets that are way more proportional than modern sword-fighting helmets with massive padding.
Therefore, for a long time, we wanted to create a helmet that resembles those depicted in medieval manuscripts. Of course, for practical purposes, you should choose one made for Harnischfechten with a perforated visor or a heavy SCA helmet with thick shock-absorption padding, but this one is to look like the picture from the medieval manuscript. It is open, light, and looks extremely cool.

Medieval Martial Arts are, by their very nature, dangerous and ArmStreet is not responsible for any injuries sustained by persons wearing their armour during the course of such activities. We cannot stress enough the importance of proper training, armour, weapons and knowledgeable supervision during these activities. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the wearer and their opponent for the safety of the participants.
