FIE 1600N Fencing mask with removable liner

We needed a mask that would work for our own HEMA needs and could serve as a good base for future experiments with overlays and plastic HEMA protection. So we experimented a little with different mask manufacturers and found one that makes good-quality mesh, is a FIE-certified manufacturer CE Lev. 2, and is ready to go the extra mile to make it just a bit more HEMA-oriented.

This mask has a slightly steeper face angle for a little more thrust resistance, an adjustable back strap, and a factory-painted option for the main color (we will add more colors step by step). It also features a removable liner for easier maintenance.

We tested it for a while as sparring and competition gear and found it to be a perfectly balanced solution for most HEMA applications. Any use of Olympic fencing masks for HEMA, though, comes with questions we all have, of course. But for us, this is just a first step toward improving options available for our fellow HEMA fencers.
