Steel plated medieval arming coat
Leather Brigandine “Bird of Prey”
Steel plated medieval arming coat
Brigandine refers to a cloth or leather sleeveless armor coat with steel plates riveted into it. The “Bird of Prey” brig is today's version of just that - a convenient way to carry overlapping metal plates, which does not require chain mail add-ons and can be worn directly over your padding. If you’re looking for a close-fit but highly protective body armor, say hello to the top-flight: the leather brigandine.
Features a bunch of stainless hand-cutted plates of different sizes and shapes to achieve a snug fit. The side buckled straps can be employed to create a comfortable fit for your body shape, they can be easily adjusted by up to 3 inches each. Posses adjustable leather straps attaching at the top, allowing for a higher/lower brigandine placement.
Due to its light weight and compact size, it's the best go-to body armor that doesn’t limit your movements due to its scalability. Its main advantage is naturally unbeatable protection against blunt impacts. The steel plated coat is sufficient to defend the torso from the blow or point of a sword, and yet so pliable to bend over and lay back as well as to move the joints without the least interruption. For experienced warrior who prefers high-level mobility and sturdy protection lighter than full-plate, the leather brigandine is the perfect thing to wear.
Ideal body armor for buhurts and tournaments, typical for West-European knights of the late 14th - early 15th century. Leather outer shell is available in various colors to mix and match with other armor pieces. Suitable for SCA heavy, BotN and reenactors. Enjoy the custom fit and benefit from the period design!
