This leg harness is perfect for anyone looking for a robust, versatile piece of armor that is easy to move in and visually stunning. Comfortable and flawlessly articulated, this set of splint of an absolute head turner as well as being completely functional for SCA heavy combat.

This leg harness consists of three different pieces: splint cuisses, an articulated knee piece, and splint greaves. The splint greaves and cuisses are made of thick leather with 1mm (18ga) stainless steel splints securely riveted on. The solid knee plate is made of 1.5mm (16ga) stainless steel, with smaller 1mm (18ga) stainless steel articulated plates. The knee plates of this harness consist of six articulated plates that are held together by robust solid rivets. All three pieces can be used on their own, or tied together via holes on each piece with cord. The stainless steel construction means that this harness is strong and easy to take care of – although keep in mind the rivets are still mild steel, so don’t leave it out in the rain!

This whole piece is well finished and has an amazing attention to detail: all of the splints are well cut, and there are no sharp edges. The back of the splint sections are lined with an attractive suede in the color of your choice, protecting you from the back of the rivets. The straps on this leg harness are made from thick, quality leather, and are finished off with beautiful little cast brass buckles.

The ArmStreet exclusive etching was inspired by our designer's historical research. It is heavily influenced by the famous Unicorn Tapestries, particularly “Unicorn in Captivity” 1495-1405. Unicorns were considered to be fearsome beasts in European folklore, elusive and rare. They were thought to be as feice as terrifying as they were beautiful, and had to be approached with caution and carefully hunted. If you’re not taken by the unicorn etching, though, we do have other options. Our floral pattern is equally stunning and perhaps slightly more understated than the unicorns.

Cold-rolled mild steel is also available for re-enactment manics or those who don’t want stainless steel, although we don’t recommend this option. Keep in mind that stainless steel is much easier to take care of – etched armor maintenance on mild steel is a lot of work.
