Brassed hilt with stainless blade
“Morning Star” Stainless Ornamental Sword
Brassed hilt with stainless blade
If you’re looking for a beautiful sword, look no further than this stunning piece. Inspired by the XV-XVI century, this sword takes some of the best features of historical weapons and combines them to create a work of art. From our “Stars of Steel” collection, this sword is brutal looking but still graceful in design.
This sword sits somewhere between an arming sword and a longsword, both of which were very common weapons used by many different types of fighters in the XV-XVI century. While swords were very difficult to find and very special in Viking times, by the XV century they were considered a basic weapon and standard issue to most soldiers. You’d be likely to pick up a weapon like this after your pike has broken or if you just need to use something for a fight quickly.
Our sword features beautiful slightly curved quillons with a ring hilt, which protects your hands and is quite versatile. The fullered blade flares out slightly beyond the quillons with a ricasso, before tapering off to a (blunted) point. The hilt gives enough room for either a one-handed or hand-and-a-half grip and is finished with a nice geometric pommel with a rounded bottom. This sword has a shiny stainless steel blade with contrasting brassed stainless used on the hilt.
This particular arming sword isn’t going to help much in the heat of battle, though… because it’s ornamental! This item is great for decoration around the house, or as a prop for cosplay, theatre, or photoshoots, but it is blunt, hollow, and can’t be sharpened. Even though it’s not meant for real fighting, it is still made of real steel, though, so we don’t recommend swinging it around anything you don’t want to accidentally knock over or break.
This sword feels nice and weighty in your hand because it’s made from 1.5mm stainless steel. This is a great material for an ornamental sword because it is resistant to rust, meaning you won’t have to do much extra care to make sure it stays nice and shiny. High-quality leather is used on the handle of the sword as a wrap, to give you something comfortable to grip.
