An SCA basket hilt is such a classic that it took us almost 20 years to make one. The rattan sword basket hilt is one of the signature pieces of the SCA. Some love it, some hate it, preferring to have those smaller cross-guards that imitate a medieval sword more accurately. But anyway, thousands and thousands of those pieces appear on the battlefield at every SCA heavy fighting event.
The design is pretty straightforward, with a hint of artful craftsmanship ArmStreet is known for: clean lines and simple attachment plates made of perfectly welded 6mm steel rods.
One of the most useful features of the SCA basket hilt is that you may save a little on finger-gauntlets by using demi-gauntlets instead. Which also gives you a little bit more freedom of movement.
Practically, this is a classic basket hilt, masterfully welded and solid like a tank.

It looks as good in the hand as it does in the photo. It's both sturdy and good looking. Two things to be aware of as a buyer. It's obviously heavier than the plastic basket hilts, so you're going to have to know how to fight with a different balance point on your sword. Also the holes for the sword are quite small, so you'll have to shave down the base for all but the smallest swords. All in all it's a really nice product that helps elevate your look and keeps your hands safe. :)

i like it,, it feels like i need one ;-) But i try to understand the measurements Size L/XL dimensions: length 16 cm from the bottom to top? width 15 cm from side to side? heights 10 cm from the bottom of the cup to the stick over side? overall length 27 cm thats is that? maybe you can send picture with the measurements to my mail?
Dear Rico, Size L/XL should fit fine. You can aso add shipping protection to your order and exchange the size in case of the misfit.
