These demi-boots are part of our Viking's collection and they definitely will be an essential part of your period wardrobe. These boots provide you exactly what you need for SCA or reenactment event or other period activity: period look united with close-to-modern boots comfort.
Boots are made of genuine leather with modern soles that ensure a secure grip and are perfect for different types of activity - from usual walking to dancing, or reenactment medieval fighting. They consist of several layers: leather insole, leather fiber board, porous breathable orthopedic base and ribbed rubber outsole.
Important note about measurements:
Please be accurate taking measurements – that influences very much at our ability to make the item that will suit you perfectly. Also, you should remember that natural leather is soft material and it will stretch so when you are getting your shoes it is normal that it fits very slim. It will get your feet shape after one or two days of usage.

They’re quite beautiful! Very well made and surprisingly comfy! I wear them literally every day c: maybe that’s why the soles are un-gluing from the toes a little bit! No worries there, easily fixable but really great and can’t wait to order something else!
The boots look really cool nd fit well. I haven't worn them outside yet, but they seem durabley made.
I had high hopes for these shoes because I've worn the Forest Boots for years and found them amazingly comfortable, but these had a hard seam in the back that completely ate up my heels after a couple of hours. Made me sad because I love the look of them, and other than that one spot, the construction is very high quality. (It's almost as if there's too much glue in the seam? I don't know. It's just really hard.) Guess I'll just stick with my tried-and-true Forests.

These boots fit great and look great very pleased but the only thing I think could help is one of the knots in the toggle came loose and I pulled it all the way out of the boot so after 30 min of trying to fish it back through the leather I thought about putting beaded at the end before tying the knot so if it came loose it would not slip through again. But otherwise very well made for the price:).

Are the sizes listed in men's or women's sizes? I am an 8 in women's, does that mean I should get a 6 for these boots?
Hi Megan! The men's sizes are listed for these boots. Kindly note that it is better to order the boots in custom size for a woman since the shoe block for the women's and for the men's footwear differs.

I am looking for new boots to wear at my local Renaissance Faire. I do have a few issues that mayhaps you can help with. One, I use orthodic inserts for high arch issues, so I usually get shoes larger to fit the insert. Two, how long do the soles last? I am on my feet for quite a bit of time (parading, dancing, serving).
As for the insoles, no problem at all, just send us some photos of your insoles, measure their length and thickness. We'll forward all this data to our shoemaker and he will make your shoes taking into account all these features.
The boots have modern rubber outsole which is quite resistant to different conditions. We cannot tell the exact time they would last, of course, it depends on how you use them :) Based on our experience, such boots can serve you for years.
The selection for shoe size, below all of the measurements, goes to a maximum of size 13. Are you able to make shoes to a bigger size than that? I need a US size 14.

Are the boot fastenings adjustable, that is if I need to wear thinner or heavier socks can looseness or tightness be adjusted.
The fastenings are not adjustable, some of the other boots are better suited for this:

Hi Hrothgar! Yes, our footwear is durable. We can make it with ruber sole. However, to serve you for a long time, the footwear should be treated right: it should not stay wet for a long time or rubber hard while cleaning etc.
Do you have any reddish brown leather you can make these in?
We have no reddish brown leather, sorry. These boots can be made of brown, rubbed brown (as pictured), black leather.
How resilient are these shoes? I'd like to wear them frequently. Are you able to guarantee the integrity of the craftsmanship?
Service life varies depending on the frequency and conditions of use. Warranty period is not set, since we have not yet carried out any detailed research. According to feedback from our customers, some of them still use the shoes that were bought 7-8 years ago. But unfortunately we can not provide any accurate information on how long it's possible to use them in the conditions of everyday wear in the city.
How does the fastening system on these work. They look like they would keep coming undone as you walk.
Boots are fastened with the leather buttons, which are quite reliable; they do not coming undone during the walk.
