Our “Sea Born” collection captures the essence of the ocean, from the bright colors of the creatures that live beneath the waves to the peaceful twists and turns of the flowing waves. If you’re the kind of person who loves to walk along the beach and get lost in the rhythmic crash of the ocean, you’re going to love “Sea Born”!

This is a fibula, which is a piece of jewelry that can be used to fasten your cloak or jacket and keep you safe from the elements. Also commonly called a cloak clasp or pin, they are very functional but can also be used as a way to add a pop of color to your costume.

This is an ArmStreet designed item, meaning the shape for it was created by one of our artists. Inspired by sea creatures as well as Western European medieval designs, it features a twisted circular shape in the middle and a starfish on top. The circular shape is reminiscent of manuscript borders and illumination as well as waves, and this piece looks just as great with a modern outfit as it does with medieval clothing.

Our Starfish fibula starts life in two pieces, with the spiral cut from 2mm brass and the starfish from 1.5mm brass. The laser cutting is completed in our blacksmithing workshop before being passed to our jewelry studio for filing and finishing. The two pieces are connected with tiny little rivets. The finishing touches are applied by our enamel expert, who mixes and paints the enamel into the gaps by hand to ensure perfection.

There is a spring pin at the back that allows you to attach this to your cloak. The pin is quite robust and sure to stand the test of time, much like the rest of this well-constructed piece of jewelry. From start to finish every aspect of this fibula is handled and created with care, and it is truly a piece of handmade quality.
