Fantasy Cloak “Sea Born”
Woolen cape with Nautilus shell trim
Our Sea-Born collection is loosely inspired by early medieval designs but is made to be universal to the general medieval time period. When creating these items we imagined they would be worn by someone who wishes to be one with the sea, an aspiring mermaid perhaps, or anyone who feels at home sitting on the beach on misty mornings. If you love to dance through the waves and long walks along the coast, we’re thinking about you!
The inspiration behind this cloak is mostly Byzantine – we looked at the simple triangle and semi-circle cloaks seen in artworks. This kind of cloak is fantastic because it’s easy to secure and adjust with a fibula, fits almost anyone, and also looks dramatic and beautiful, which we feel is always an important factor in any costume. The cloak can either be fastened with a pin or fibula at the front or at your shoulder, depending on how you choose to wear it.
We’ve used special wool for this collection that’s softer and drapes much nicer than any wool we’ve used before. It’s still water-resistant and perfect for a chilly morning, though, sure to provide you with a little bit of protection from the elements. The cloak itself has a very subtle cut out for it to drape around your neck, and flows down to just below the knees depending on how you choose to wear it.
The border of the cape is trimmed with an absolutely stunning piece of artwork: trim woven with a nautilus shell design on it. The pattern for this ArmStreet-exclusive trim was created by our artists, who were inspired by the creatures and shellfish you would find on the beach. Not only is the trim beautiful, but it’s also applied to the cape in a very specific way that makes it lie flat perfectly at the edges, with a little bit of contrasting artificial silk lining the edge of it like piping. This slightly raises the border of the trim and really makes it pop.

Very nice cape, but it's missing a cord to hold it around the neck.
AHHHH. Holy cow. I am so amazed with the quality of this! It's raining outside, but this cape just repels the cold. I feel like I'm being bundled in the best way. And with it being made of wool, it is such a great investment piece that I'm sure I'll wear for the rest of my life.
A great cape. The fabric is thin and therefore not very bulky, but still warms very nicely. The color is blue/petrol. The border with the shells is a fantastic color match. The cape is a nice length, i.e. it doesn't go all the way to the floor. This means it doesn't get completely wet at the bottom when you're "sneaking" through the forest in winter. It has a simple cut, but the neckline means it fits well and can be draped in every conceivable way.
..Just got my aquamarine coloured cape.. and I love it! It is cut/crafted so that it sits and kind of hugs the shoulders, even without a fibula - brilliant.. and it has wonderful drape and flow as you walk.. it is a gorgeous, rich fabric.. I cannot wait to receive my fibula to try out different ways of wearing it.. Thank you for another beautifully made item!
Simply breathtaking! The cape is cut just as wide as in the picture and can therefore be draped beautifully. The wool has an unusually beautiful color and is not as itchy as other wool. The cape is quite light for being so pleasantly warm.
