“Heritage” HEMA fencing gloves
Padded fencing gloves with long cuff
This is a "Heritage" version of our rapier and small sword fencing gloves with a long cuff. They will also work perfectly for many other things, from LARP polearm combat to the SCA cut-and-thrust. In HEMA, as well as it happened in SCA, WMA, and HMB, there is a never-ending opposition between traditionalists and sportsmen, so to say. It touches all aspects of the modern historical fencing scene, and, of course, it is reflected in gear. Some people prefer sport style gear, but these gloves are for those who think that basic colors are good enough and prefer a more traditional look.
The design and protection are absolutely the same as our "Sport" line, but colors choice is way more traditional. These gloves have a flexible wrist segment, a long asymmetric cuff that works perfectly for those who fight without vambraces, the cuff has a hidden plastic layer, and fingers, a top of the palm, and side of the palm are protected with EVA pads. There is perforation between fingers and on the wrist, it really helps to keep your hands less wet. Those of us who use black gloves had black marks on our fingers after excessive training. After consultations with people who make gloves for different industries we realized it's a common problem, so if you wish to avoid this, just choose the lighter leather shades.
What is HEMA and what gauntlets do I need for HEMA?
HEMA stands for Historical European Martial Arts, it's a fast-growing community of historical fencers, mostly focused on longsword, rapier, saber, and sword and buckler disciplines. Some clubs in HEMA are more historically oriented, while others are focused on the competitive aspect of sword fighting. Different disciplines require different gear, so these gloves are made for lighter weapons with developed guards, such as small swords and rapiers, when heavier weapons like longswords and arming swords will require hard-shell gauntlets

Very good quality, the gloves fit very well, so the sizing seems to be accurate. My only issue design-wise is lack of wrist protection due to the thin layer with "holes for ventilation. As these are HEMA gloves, and not purely cosplay ones, I would much rather have slightly stiffer, but safer glove. Outside of the pinky finger also could be slightly more padded. Nevertheless, the quality of leather and stitching is superb.
The product quality is great: it is the same as in the photo and very comfortable to wear (after the leather starts to expand and fit your hands). At the back of the wrist area (between the padding and the plastic cuffs), I think they should add some more padding instead of air holes because there’s no protection there at all. Overall Regardless of my personal opinions, it’s a decent gear for sparring. Highly recommended!
Very comfortable gloves for combat. Soft, ventilated leather.
The quality is amazing, stiff but that will change as I break them in. The thumb and little finger are a bit long despite it being the smallest size but I have small hands and they fit better then I had expected! And it shouldn't be hard to alter them to make them a better fit.
It's perfect I sweat a lot and this is the key to make my hands Slip-free! No more sweating issues!!
These gloves are exactly what I've been looking for. Most gloves I have found are a bit slippery, these are suede on the outside, so they grip much better. The fit is great for my hands.
