Errant Squire Roped Pauldrons

Some believe that a squire’s potential can be determined by looking at how they take care of their belongings. A good squire will treat their armor with care and respect, keeping it clean and shiny, ready to be thrown on with little notice. A good squire is trustworthy, intelligent and eager to move up in the world. We imagine the Errant Squire collection to be a set of armor for those with great aspirations. The Errant Squire is the kind of person who, although known to be lost in a daydream, is still attentive to their knight and quick to learn. They don’t follow the path of chivalry for the glory, they simply wish to be a better person and make the world a better place. There is absolutely no doubt that the Errant Squire will make an excellent knight.

These pauldrons are a pleasure to wear and appear simple and sleek. We have crafted them with a clean aesthetic that isn’t ostentatious but will still please a discerning squire who craves something just a little bit fancy. Stainless steel construction means that they are rust resistant, remaining beautiful and shiny with much less care required than mild steel. They are robust and are made to take a beating, with the main parts made from 1.5mm stainless and the overlapping plates from 1mm stainless. Solid brass rivets are strong but also visually pleasing, giving the pauldrons a very refined look.

Flexibility was our main focus in the design process. Sliding rivets allow for an astonishing range of movement, giving you maximum protection without holding you back. The lames are also beautifully articulated, with an additional piece of leather attached to the rivets to keep everything robust.

While we consider these to be simple pauldrons by our standards, we have still maintained the same attention to detail that we usually apply to our more ornate products. The overall quality of this item can be seen in robust leather straps and hand cast period buckles, which look excellent and give them a touch of class. A leather tab at the top with holes leaves room to lace these pauldrons to your gambeson or arming garment of choice. Our favorite aspects are the two beautiful band of roping on each pauldron, adding some reinforcement to the steel whilst also looking stunning. These pauldrons will be well at home in any set of armor based around the XV century.
