Unicorn Western Elbows
Articulated elbow cops with decorative etching
If you’re a fighter who wants to stand out from the crowd, these elbows sure make a statement. Well built, flawlessly articulated and sporting some beautiful etching, these will make an excellent addition to your fighting kit.
These articulated elbows consist of five plates as well as a rondelle. This ensures you still have an excellent range of movement, while giving you a decent amount of protection. The elbow is 1.5mm (16ga) stainless steel, while the smaller articulated plates are 1mm (18ga). Stainless steel is an excellent material because it means that these elbows are much easier to take care of than armor constructed out of mild steel. Do keep in mind, however, that the rivets are still mild steel, so a quick wipe down with a dry cloth after use in wet weather is always a good idea.
The rondelle of these elbows not only contain a fantastic piece of decorative etching, but they’re dished in a convex shape to ensure that enemy blows glance off and away from you. They provide excellent inner arm coverage.
For the etching on these elbows we took inspiration from the famous Hunt of The Unicorn tapestries, especially “Unicorn in Captivity” 1495-1505. In English folklore unicorns were considered to be fearsome beats capable of goring their enemies, and it was absolutely vital that they were approached with caution. We think that it’s a strong motif and is visually stunning on the rondelle of these beautiful elbows. The motif continues of each of the articulated plates, creating a cohesive, eye catching look. If the unicorn etching is too much for you, we also have our popular floral pattern, which we have been using for a number of years. Both patterns are beautiful in their own way, and look excellent.
If you’re not keen on the stainless steel, we can do these elbows in cold-rolled mild steel. Keep in mind that stainless steel is much easier to take care of – etched armor maintenance on mild steel is a lot of work.
