Fauld “The King's Guard”
Western brigandine fauld skirt armor
Usually lower part of medieval armor body kit is one of the big problems. Tassets usually looks not very nice and do not provide enough level of protection. From other side, wearing chainmail under the cuirass makes your kit too heavy. So we provide the best solution we found. It is brigandine type stainless steel fauld.
It is made of stainless steel, covered with natural suede leather and assembled with solid brass rivets. Side slits fastened with leather straps with handmade casting brass buckles.

Important note about measurements: to achieve desired fitting of the armour, we need your measurements in gambeson, choses or other under-armour gear you are planning to use with this armor. The only exception is when you are ordering both armour and padding from our company — in this case you can send us your body measurements.

I ordered this fauld in the green colour and it is an amazing piece of armour. It is heavier than I expected, but as you tighten it around your natural waist, it feels light and it does not put any pressure on your shoulders. It folds up and down easily so that you can move your legs. I did notice that if you wear it a little bit too low, it becomes harder to move your legs, so adjusting the height of it is important for mobility. So far it seems very strong and sturdy, I don't think it will ever need repairs even after fighting with it. I didn't receive any laces to go with it, so you might have to provide your own laces or strings for the belt around the waist and on the shoulders, but that is an insignificant problem. Over all, I am very impressed by this fauld.
Hi, will you have that western brigandine fauld skirt armor in your stock at Bicolline in two weeks? I’d like to see it upclose before buying it. Thanks!
Hi Cédric, this skirt is custom made only. You are welcome to order it on our website and we will be glad to make it according to your personal measurements.
Would it be possible to have the metal showing underneath. I have never liked the look of brigandine that is covered in a cloth. If possible could it look something like thishttps://gyazo.com/adc8afa4371a7fc52a027366ece3a667 it does not have to be exactly like this but I would like to show the metal as much as possible if possible.
Hi, Tristan! Unfortunately, it is not possible to make it without seude. Please consider this cuirass with tassets instead. It can be made without etching if you wish.
Hi there! I've purchased various armor from you in the past. I'm putting together a custom kit forged by Steel Mastery and I'd really like to get this Fauld to complete the kit. I was debating on Black leather, to match the long arming doublet. However the straps on the armor are crimson red and there's a crimson red cape. Would you happen to have any pictures of this with the red leather I might be able to see? It would help me decide on which color to get this in. If not that's fine. Thanks a bunch!
We do not have the picture of the skirt made of burgundy suede, but here are the gauntlets from the same kit made of this color. Please note that the shade of the suede may vary a bit depending on the supply.
Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to order the following item without the inscriptions. Western Brigandine Fauld (Skirt) Armor “The King's Guard” Source: https://armstreet.com/store/armor/western-brigandine-fauld-skirt-armor-the-kings-guard#comment
Yes, it can be made without the inscriptions, you can just mention it in the comments to your order.
This looks really good, congrats on the design ! However, it looks like it would prevent the person from sitting. Can you ?
True point - actually you can, but it will be very uncomfortable to sit when wearing it.
A few questions please. -How heavy is the skirt ? -How thick is the steel ? -How is the skirt attached to the gambeson ? I Think I could see braces on the pictures ? Thank you in advance.
The skirt weights about 7 kilos (15.4 lb).
Steel inside the faulds is 1.5 mm thick.
The skirt is not attached to gambeson. There is a leather strap on the back, which works just like braces, and leather straps on the sides help to adjust the skirt to your figure.
