“Leprechaun” Clover Hood

Some people believe that fairies grant wishes, while others feel that they are not to be trusted. It would be wise to be wary – they have been known to play games with mortals. Leprechauns are a creature of Irish Folklore who are known to hide pots of gold at the end of rainbows. With a knack for fixing shoes and playing tricks, they are actually solitary creatures who have been widely associated with Saint Patrick’s Day.

The motifs in this hood are inspired by Irish Folklore. The pattern of the hood itself is Viking – the pattern closely resembles that of the Skjoldehamn hood, a historical hood found in a marsh. Hoods serve a number of purposes. They add another layer to your costume and drape nicely across the shoulders. They can also be headwear when worn up. It is made of a series of squares and comes down to a handsome point in the middle of the wearer’s chest. The hood at the back is also square in nature, covering your head quite well and shielding you from the sun and the rain.

We have used high-quality textiles for this piece, with the main part being made from wool. Wool is soft, historical, and repels water very well making it the ideal hood fabric. The inside of the hood is made from linen, which makes an excellent lining. It adds a bit of rigidity to the piece and also adds a nice, comfy layer next to your skin.

The main piece of embroidery is inspired by Celtic patterns and the lucky symbol of a four leaf clover. It looks like gorgeous knotwork, hand embroidered by our expert seamstresses with natural and ochre-colored thread. Additional natural colored hand stitching lines all of the seams, really making the lovely shape of the hood stand out.
