Blackened spring steel thigh armor
“Evening Star” Spring Steel Cuisses
Blackening thigh armor with brassed accents
She’s calm but not kind and prefers to conduct business in the cool breeze after the sun has set. The Evening Star is known to make calculated, rational choices, so if you decide to break her trust or cross her that very well might be the last thing that you ever do.
Our “Evening Star” is the latest addition to our lineup of popular armor for women. Created with the female figure in mind, it’s designed to be lightweight, protective, have striking aesthetics, and help you win fights. Unemcumbering and fitted, this fantastic set of armor is sure to help you to victory.
This is not the kind of armor you would see on a peasant or a person of lower status - it’s much more likely to be owned by a knight or noble. This is because to create something that’s so fitted and shaped, it would take a very experienced blacksmith a very long time, which comes at great expense. This kind of armor was commonly seen in Western Europe during the late XIV-XV centuries, which we were heavily inspired by when it came to designing this collection.
These cuisses protect you from the top of your thigh all the way to just below your knee. They are completely riveted together and give you a lot of mobility due to the well-articulated nature of all of the joints. There is an optional greave that you may choose to purchase as well to extend the armor all the way to your ankle, but this listing is just for the cuisses. One main solid plate protects your thigh, followed by two lames that lead into the solid knee cop. The cop itself has a nice ridge in the middle and a decently sized but still modest fan at the side to protect you from wrap shots. Three more lames extend below the knee, followed by a panel of leather that connects to a strap to secure them. The thigh pieces also feature an additional steel panel that provides coverage of the outside and back of your thigh.
You’re going to have no trouble with mobility while wearing these because they’re super light! We’ve achieved such a light weight by using spring steel, hardened steel that is stronger than mild or stainless steel, so we can craft the armor to be much thinner. Since the armor is thinner, it also ends up being lighter, and much easier to move around in. These cuisses have a blackened spring steel finish, which gives it a little bit of protection from rust, with a brassed knee cop for added contrast.
This piece of armor is constructed with care and attention paid to all of the details. High-quality black leather is used at the top with lacing holes punched in it to give you somewhere easy to lace them onto your arming belt. The same beautiful leather is used for straps, as well as lining the bottom edge of the cuisses just below your knees. Solid rivets are used in the construction, which makes this a very strong, solid, and luxurious piece.

Please contact us if you have any additional questions or if you want to add more tinted elements to your leg armour for some extra – any detail can be made either in polished, in brassed or in blackened spring steel.
IMPORTANT: To fit correctly and prevent injury, a suit of armour must be accurately built to the measurements of the person wearing it. PLEASE take all measurements over either the gambeson or under-padding you are planning to wear with this armour. The sole exception is for persons buying armour and padding together, ArmStreet will then make the proper size adjustments for the armour based on the measurements provided for the padding.
