“Dark Star” Canvas Gambeson Sleeves

If you’re looking for a versatile piece that will add to your costume without committing to a whole gambeson, these sleeves are a great choice. These lightly padded arms are exactly what you’ll need to give you a little bit of added cushioning in LARP, or any other format of medieval fighting. We imagine that they will be extra useful in the warmer months where you don’t want to weigh yourself down with a full gambeson, but still, want to have your arms protected. If you do want your torso padded as well, the solution is easy: simply take a look at our variety of matching vests and build the perfect gambeson to suit your needs!

We love the XIV-XV century time period and were heavily inspired by the padded armor of that time. We especially loved how everything was slim fitted and flattering, giving you just enough protection without being excessive. From shoulder to wrist, these gambeson arms are padded. In order to make it more comfortable under armor, we have not added any buckles or lacing to the wrist to make sure everything sits well under bracers or an arm harness. The body part of the crop top is unpadded, allowing for better airflow and less bulk. It is shaped to your figure, with darts under the bust to make sure it fits well. If worn with the matching gambeson vest, you end up with overlapping padding on your shoulder for added comfort where your breastplate straps or pauldrons might rub. On its own, though, the arms still give excellent coverage of your underarm and will protect you well. In order to keep the whole garment sitting flat underneath your other clothing, we have added metal eyelets with cord for you to lace it up at the middle. If preferred, you can also just leave the lacing open.

This gambeson is made of one of our strongest materials - canvas. It is a very dense fabric that holds up well to wear, and will look even better as it starts to relax and age! It looks amazing in photos and has been lined with nice breathable linen to make sure it feels nice against your skin. The borders of this garment have been finished with a thin leather that gives it a very striking aesthetic that is perfect for LARP or cosplay. All of these are premium materials, and every aspect of the gambeson has been created with a fine finish, included welted flat sleeves and masterful quilting.
