Costume “Red Elise”
Linen dress with skirt apron and hood
Middle Ages Costume "Red Elise"
Medieval linen dress with skirt apron and hood
This costume is our version of European medieval country costume. It's made of 100% natural flax linen. The design looks simple, but it's thought-out and looks great on almost any figure. There is long lacing along the back of the dress and sleeves.
In this listing, we provide the dress with skirt and long-tailed hood with pelerine, both made of 100% natural flax as well. The skirt has ties on the sides of the waist; two sets of laces are placed on the front of the skirt to allow easy length adjustment and extra draping.
Please note, the dress of size 6, 8, 10, 12 has the side bust darts for better shaping. Also, if the difference between your bust and waist circumferences exceeds 9 13/16 in (25 cm), the dress won't fit tightly.
If you would like to have this item in another colour you can consult order form for the available colour options.
Please note, the belt is not included.

Beautiful dress. Even though it's not easy to put on/off because it's not elastic, it's very sturdy and doesn't tear. The yellow color is really nice. However, would you have a tutorial for putting on the apron correctly please? And any tips on how to keep the dress from dragging on the floor? Thanks for your answers!
Everything is great :) I like to wear it on hot days because it is nice and light and has a comfortable cut
This dress is the excellent. I bought it knowing that I might be wearing it in quite hot weather and I was not disappointed by how well the fabric breathed. I bought the cap and apron too and the whole look was perfect.
I absolutely love this linen dress. I own three of them. I have the green with brown trim (secret garden), the yellow, and the blue (both Red Elise). I also own the chaperone and linen apron dress that go with Red Elise. I live in hot Texas, but I love to wear medieval dresses, so the fact that these are 100% linen is wonderful! I never sweat, and the sleeves protect me from the sun. I wear my medieval dresses regularly (including some from the renaissance faire). I love the way the linen is aging (going on about a year of frequent wearing), I get TONS of compliments (I wear these dresses to Walmart, to a romantic sushi dinner, and as my business casual outfit. They are modest, 100% linen, and so unique no one knows how to categorize my clothes haha). I even wear my dresses camping. (I use my skirt apron to protect my dresses around the campsite). I like the skirt apron, however I really wish it came with POCKETS. I wear it all the time, as well as the chaperone. The apron dress is beautiful, and you have to either step into it or slip it over your head to get it on. I don't find the strings particularly useful...but I've tied scissors, a knife, a washcloth, and my keys to it. I've figured out a way to wash this dress without having to take off all the lacing. I loosen the lacing enough so I can remove the dress, but I tie the ends of the laces so they don't pull out. Turn the entire dress inside out, and tuck the sleeves into the BACK LACES. Kind of like a straightjacket. This is the best way to wash it so that your laces don't tangle, tear, or pull. When done, I turn my dress right side out, check the lacing, and hang to dry. (I've also put these dresses in the dryer. They will shrink about 15%, but I wasn't affected much by shrinkage.) When you order, if you give exact measurements, your dress may shrink beyond your fit in the dryer. I'd recommend getting it tailored locally after several washings if you think it needs to be smaller than the regular Armstreet sizes.
The overall look is very charming, the red color a beautiful deep carmine. The finishing touches are perfect. I haven't really worn it yet, just tried it on, as it's a summer garment and it's winter. But I can already say that the apron is a real gem! The whole thing perfectly satisfies my expectations as a very demanding academic medievalist (I did a thesis at the Sorbonne on medieval costume...). Impeccable service, friendly and attentive staff.
it is great, a little long but very pretty, thank you!
OMG! These items are awesome. They are well made to my measurements out of a lightweight, crisp linen. Perfect for the upcoming medieval festival. The seller shipped on time and it was well packaged. I will buy from then again and highly recommend them.
Fantastic well made gown. Fits perfectly, absolutely love it! Thanks again...
Thanks for the review, Viola!
I received my dress and apron today. They are so beautiful and the fit is perfect. I have a question about the two sets of ties inside the apron- what is the correct way to tie them to draw up the apron hem? Thank you!
Great, thanks for the feedback! The drawstrings should be loosen when not being used; tighten the drawstrings and fix them in place, tied in an overhand knot, to draw up the skirt.
Hello again! Thank you so much! As i received this dress with apron, and the hood is beautiful. The dress is orange, but the sunlight was brighter today..
Thanks for your feedback! You're always welcome!
Hello, wonderful outfit :) Can this dress be made without the lacing on the arms?
Hello, it is not possible, unfortunately.
i have no idea how to use the three sets of ties on the apron that i recently purchased. There are two sets on the outside of the garment, and one set inside. Can you please describe in great detail how I can make the best use of these.
Hi Randi! Please simply tie the top lacing to the one that is situated inside. This way, the skirt will be folded nicely in front.
Can the Apron/Skirt in the Red Elise set be purchased separately? If so, how is it sized and how do I order it. Thanks!
Yes, the “Red Elise” skirt can be purchased separately. Welcome!
I would love to purchase this Elise dress. I would also like the hat, but not the skirt. Would it be possible to have the corset belt Mistress of the Hills instead of the skirt. Would you be able to adjust the price of the skirt from the corset belt?
Is it possible to have color samples sent in red; orange; green; burgundy red; brown; natural and white flax linen? Thank you in advance for your reply and assistance. Anxiously awaiting your reply.
All of these pieces can be purchased separately: the Red Elise dress, the Red Elise hat and Mistress of the Hills corset.
We can make fabric samples for free, but kindly ask you to pay the minimal shipping rate, it's $12.00 (or free with any other purchase). Let us know which colors you'd like to get (up to five colors), and we'll send an invoice for the shipping to your PayPal email.
Is this skirt available separately and in a variety of colors?
