Medieval Tunic “Prince Gilderoy”
XIII century long linen tunic with trim
Medieval Linen Tunic “Prince Gilderoy”
Long Linen XIII Century Knights Tunic
Every merchant and prince knows not to wear his best clothes while travelling. There is a fine art to dressing yourself in a way that is modest and appears care free, but still demands respect, and that was something that Prince Gilderoy understood from a young age.
Our “Prince Gilderoy” tunic is long, flattering, yet simple, making it the perfect layer for your character’s attire. Made from our 100% flax linen, it is perfect for hot and cold climates alike, as linen is renowned for its ability to wick sweat as well as insulate. It is fancy enough to be worn as an outer-layer, but plain enough that it could also be just another layer under your travelling coat.
This style of tunic was very common in historical texts, often being worn by people of higher status due to the length. Materials were very expensive and fabric looms were much shorter than they are today, meaning that longer garments required more complex patterns and much more time to create than shorter ones. Frivolous use of fabric was something that can be observed very much in the XIV century, where people with money would go as far as to simply hang fabric from their sleeves to show how they could afford to waste fabric! Thus, we imagine this tunic to be worn by someone of middle-high status, such as a merchant, nobleman or travelling royalty.
The silhouette of this tunic is incredibly flattering and is enough to make basically anyone look important. From the waist it flares outward and goes almost to your ankles, with a split in the middle of both the front and the back to allow for easy walking (and to also imply you’re rich enough to own a horse). The long hem means it flows fantastically as you walk, creating movement and drawing the attention of everyone around you. It has a rounded neckline, gores under the armpit for ease of movement (in case you suddenly find yourself in a gentlemanly duel), and tapered sleeves that finish with a slight split that make them easy to flip up and keep out of your food during feasts.
This garment is well constructed and expertly finished. We have trimmed the whole collar, bottom hem and sleeves in an ArmStreet exclusive trim, created by our team of talented designers. They have taken inspiration from geometric shapes and motifs in the famous Maciejowskie Bible (also known as the Crusader, or Morgan Bible) to create something new and interesting that pays tribute to this garments historical origins. This is a trim only available at ArmStreet so you will not find it in any other stores. We also have a version of this tunic in cotton if you are looking for something a little bit less breathable but more durable.

and again top quality product Thanks
Holy crap, this is amazing! The details are all perfect, from the stitching to the way the seams are done. The trim is gorgeous, and looks great. It's long too, if I don't blouse it up a bit over my belt, it drags the ground. But I love it and it's exactly what I envisioned.
High quality, excellent linen tunic. It is functional and comfortable. I have worn it around the house and out to events and is not showing signs of wear
An absolutely beautiful tunic. Ordered the blue flax linen colour and was blown away by how nice it is! Would 100% recommend
Excellent piece. Fits well and looks amazing.
The fabric is beautiful, fits perfect. Will definitely be ordering more. Thank you, thank you
Absolutely thrilled with this! It’s incredibly comfortable and easy to move in, and the blackthorn decoration is really nice as well. True to the name, I feel like an elven prince when I wear it, hehe. Thank you! :D
LOVE THIS! Very comfortable and really enjoy the length. With belts and accessories, it added great layers and while large, was great for movement. Would 100% order again in all colors and lengths.
I purchased this outfit in the midnight blue flax linen with 13 century blue trim for my father to wear at my recent medieval wedding. He also matched it with the Embossed Viking Belt in brown leather. My father looked wonderful in his outfit, and my husband and I, along with my father, all looked wonderful in our Armstreet outfits.
Thank you! :)
It is great very happy with my Long Tunic.
Is it possible to have this made with a different trim, such as Key Keeper?
Yes, it is possible for the custom size option. Please simply leave this request in the comment section to your order.
How do I specify if I want to make custom changes to certain things about the item, such as garment length, or some other design change not listed?
Hello, kindly confirm the alterations and cost with our support team first and they will arrange the order for you.
Hi, would it be possible to shorten the tunic a little bit? And would it count as a custom order or not?
Dear Isaac, any adjustment is possible for the custom size tunic only. Kindly specify how short the tunic should be so we could double check with our seamstress if it is possible.
I have more of an athletic build, with 17 inch biceps but a medium sized torso. I want to get a premade tunic in stock, and was wondering if medium or large would be smarter. I will be wearing an under tunic as well. And Id need it by the 17th. If I ordered today with express would it be here in time?
Dear Jonathan, please send us your chest and waist circumference so we could help you to choose the right size. Express shipping takes 1 week so it should be delivered on time if the order is placed today.
Is it possible to have this made in wool?
Dear Annika, this tunic can be made in linen or cotton only, sorry.
