Muslin Female Apron “Fireside Family”
Muslin apron for women
People can spend hours creating a perfect outfit for themselves. They search for fitting dresses, shoes and matching accessories such as earrings, rings, or necklaces. And especially appreciate garments that are both beautiful and functional as we always try to make our everyday life more convenient. First, people picked berries and carried them in their hands. Then they realized that long skirts could help with it, and they got more space to carry what they find necessary. However, it would wear out clothes. In the Middle Ages, women did not have many tunics, so they took great care of them.
Looking for ways to protect garments, women started to use aprons that would cover dresses and tunics protecting them from stains. Aprons stayed popular through the whole history. People developed special designs, patterns, and used different materials such as cotton, linen, and muslin. Being used mostly by women who cared about their beautiful dresses while cooking, aprons were considered a sign of hospitality. When we were developing our “Fireside Family” collection, we worked on the outfit for each family member. Keeping in mind the importance of aprons, we include them in most of our female collections.
“Fireside Family” is a collection of simple and authentic garments. Following this idea, the apron has a rectangle shape and is sewn to a tie. For the apron, we used muslin. This material had been often used by textile industries in Mesopotamia before it was brought to France and Italy in the XVII century. Being long-lasting, breathable, comfortable, soft, light, and ecological, muslin was often used by European tailors. We appreciate these features as well and therefore decided to make muslin aprons. Hopefully, you will see how useful it could be at Medieval festivals. Create a stylish and interesting outfit with the apron and always keep your outfit tidy.
