Under-gear rashguard pants “Futura”
Elastic compression spats for sword sports
Rashguards may have started in water sports, where athletes needed a lightweight second skin to protect against UV exposure and abrasions, but they very quickly found their place in martial arts. Thin, flexible, and patterned with striking designs, they offered fighters a way to train and compete without the constant discomfort of heavy, sweat-soaked clothing.
Today, compression spats and shirts are just as popular in HEMA and other weapon-based martial arts. A smooth polyester–spandex layer creates a comfortable barrier between your legs and heavier gear, helps regulate temperature by pulling moisture off the skin, and, let’s be honest, they simply look cool.
Our “Futura” pants take all these advantages and refine them specifically for under-gear use. We selected a thin, extremely elastic fabric that minimizes the risk of overheating while maintaining full mobility. The seams are low-profile and soft, making a huge difference during long training days, multi-hour tournaments, or any event where chafing can become a problem.
These spats assist your body’s thermoregulation, reducing both overcooling and overheating, while also protecting sensitive skin areas from rubbing against padding, shin guards, and other gear. Lightweight, comfortable, and functional — the ideal lower-body base layer for any dedicated sword-fighter.
